Bring your wood projects to the next level by making colors pop. We will cover color theory, stain matching, chemical stains, reactive, stains, glazes and fillers. Each student will complete 2 sample boards with modern versions of historic furniture finishes.
Welcome to the world of hand tools, a must for furniture makers. Learn to tune-up hand planes and chisels. Be prepared to give up some of those power tools and switch over to your hand tools, where you become one with wood. NOTE: THIS CLASS REPLACES SHARPENING CHISELS & PLANES AND HAND PLANE TUNE-UP.
Frustrated by wood finishing? Need to improve your finishing skills? In this class we will cover the basics of surface preparation, and application of sealers and topcoats. Each student will prepare sample boards, and hand apply several home workshop friendly finishes, while learning about the process of wood finishing. This class is also the pre-requisite for other classes in wood finishing.
Woodworking is becoming high tech – learn how CNC and laser engravers can enhance your woodworking projects.
Amp up your carving project and learn how to get started with power carving. We’ll review common machines and burrs for a strong start!
