We wanted a space-efficient unit with minimal noise, dust-free construction, and convenience of use.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eTo meet those objectives we designed a unit using a 760 CFM, 1 1\/2in. horsepower, 62-82 decibel dust collector. \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThis size blower is more than adequate for a small shop.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe built the entire wood framework from one 4x8 sheet of 3\/4in. birch plywood. In addition the project requires:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eOne piece of 20x57-1\/2in. 30-gauge sheet metal for the cylinder \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eAnother measuring 20x57-1\/2in. for the 3 cone segments \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eA third measuring 15-1\/2x19in. for the inlet. \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWe used a cartridge-type air-filter (rated 99.9% efficient) to minimize dust emission.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe total cost of our unit was right around $375 (including the blower) to build.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eAdd another $64 for the remote switch.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe dust collector we built is for a collector with a 760 CFM, 1.5 horsepower blower.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eIn the plan, we've included general information, but NOT the drawings or dimensions for using different blower sizes (1-3 H.P.), allowing you a CFM range from 350 to 1200. \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThis plan was built and proven in the WOOD magazine shop by its editors and master craftsmen.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a downloadable plan.
